Contact Colorado Congressional Representatives At this time two issues come before us that stimulate a response on behalf of Arts Advocates:
HB 01-1194: Revisions to the Tax Payer Bill of Rights (TABOR)
Governor Owens has shown courageous leadership in working with Representative Romanoff and other legislative leaders in formulating revisions to the Tax Payer Bill of Rights. He has faced great criticism in his own party for his willingness to find a stable means of funding budgetary needs. Please call or email his office to express your thanks (303.866.2471) or governorownes@state.co.us.
Colorado Congressional Representatives vote to eliminate the funding for the National Endowment of the Arts.
Recently several representatives from Arts for Colorado were in Washington, DC to participate in Arts Advocacy Day and, while there, visited with our Congressional Representatives.
March 17, 2005 the US House of Representatives began debate on the FY 2006 budget resolution. One broad proposal that included the elimination of the National Endowment for the Arts (among other organizations) was voted down. Unfortunately, Representatives Beauprez, Tancredo and Musgrave voted to eliminate funding for the NEA.
If you live in their districts, please call to let them know you favor funding for the NEA. The contact numbers are listed below:
